Mary has been with the Retail Food Policy Team in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition in College Park, Md. since 2008. Mary attended the University of California, Riverside where she majored in Biology. After graduation Mary moved to the state of Mississippi to work in a reference laboratory in the toxicology department and pursued further education in Medical Laboratory Technology and became a Board Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist. She worked in the laboratory field for three years and finally moved into the field of Environmental Health. Mary worked for Riverside County, Department of Environmental Health in California for eight and a half years until she decided to change her career path and make a move across country to work for the FDA, CFSAN Retail Food Protection Staff. Mary currently serves as the Retail Food Policy Team lead, represents FDA on numerous national food safety committees and enjoys learning new things within the world of food safety every day.
